The Competent Crew course covers a mix of theory and practical training according to the Sail Canada Standards:

In this course you will gain a basic understanding of all aspects of safety on board, emergency responses, safe seamanship, and basic crewing techniques. You will also dip your toes into navigation, collision regulations, weather, anchoring, docking, and much more.
The Competent Crew course lays the groundwork for you to be a valuable crew member on a cruising adventure and be ready for the next level as you work your way up to becoming the skipper.
Upon Completion: Logbook, Sail Canada Certificate

Program format:
* Day sailing: theory (online) with written exam + practice (18 hours)
* Live aboard: 4 days with written exam
* Challenge: minimum 4 hours with written exam

Student's Personal Boat
OR
School Boats: Hunter 33 on Lake Simcoe from May to October
Dufour 43 GL in Caribbean from November to April
SCHEDULE:
1. Theory online
EXAM: every second week of the month
2. Practice From May to October at Lake Simcoe
• 18 hours practice in 3 outlets of 6 hours each for max group of 4 students,
Scheduled from 1 to 15 day of each month from 8am to 2pm (morning class)
OR
from 16 to 31 day of each month from 3pm to 9pm (afternoon class)
*Weekends may be scheduled in advance at an additional $50 cost
Lessons can be presented in 2 languages: in English, according to the terminology and rules of sailing, and in Russian with a detailed explanation.

*4 days living aboard: CAD 2000 + HST
