 ROC stands for Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s Certificate and is required by
Anyone using a marine VHF radio or other marine radios (each person on the boat who will use the radio needs their own card). There are significant fines if you are found using a VHF or marine radio without your card.  

VHF Maritime is pre-requisites course for the Intermediate level.


PREREQUISITES: Basic Cruising Standard

Program format:

3 hours training with 60 question multiple-guess test and oral segment

VHF Maritime Radio Course includes: emergency radio procedures, everyday operating techniques, the uses of marine radios, choice of frequencies, operation phonetic alphabet, procedural words and phrases, Digital Selective Calling, the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System, (DSC/GMDSS)

All mariners, including recreational boaters, will want to take advantage of the many features and capabilities of this innovative form “automatic” radio. This complete package with CD, and the new Digital Selective Calling, will prepare you for the Restricted Operator Certificate (Maritime) with DSC Endorsement exam: 60 question multiple-guess test and oral segment
